1 Tim 5:8
8 If
anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate
family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
(NIV)
Titus 3:14
14 Our
people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that
they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.

II Th 3:7‑12
7 For
you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when
we were with you,
8 nor
did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked
night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of
you.
9 We
did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to
make ourselves a model for you to follow.
10 For
even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not
work, he shall not eat."
11 We
hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies.
12 Such
people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the
bread they eat.
(NIV)
Working too much?
Exodus 5:17-18 Pharaoh said,
"Lazy, that's what you are--lazy! That is why you keep saying, 'Let
us go and sacrifice to the Lord.' Now get to work. You will not be
given any straw, yet you must produce your full quota of bricks."
Exodus 6:6-8 Therefore, say to the
Israelites: 'I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke
of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will
redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgement. I
will take you as my people and I will be your God ... And I will bring you to
the land I swore with uplifted hand ... I will give it to you as a possession
..."
